OFFICIAL RULES

No purchase or payment of any kind is necessary to enter for a chance to win. A purchase or payment of any kind will not increase your chances of winning.


1. Sponsor: Yale Secure Start Contest (the "Contest") is sponsored by Master Lock Company LLC, 6744 S Howell Avenue, Oak Creek, Wisconsin 53154 (the “Sponsor”).


2. Eligibility: The Contest is only open to participants who are legal residents of the 50 United States and District of Columbia, and who are the age of majority in their given state at the time of entry (the “Entrant”). Employees of Million Dollar Media (the “Contest Administrator”) and Employees of Sponsor, their respective affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies, suppliers (collectively, “Released Parties”) and their immediate family members and/or those living in the same household of each are not eligible to participate in the Contest. The Contest is subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations. Void where prohibited or restricted by law, rule, or regulation. There is no entry fee for the Contest but Entrant is solely responsible for any costs related to it submitting an Entry. Submission of an entry to the Contest constitutes Entrant’s full and unconditional agreement to these Official Rules, including without limitation, Sponsor’s decisions, all of which are final and binding in all matters related to the Contest.

 

3. Contest Period: Entries will be accepted online starting on October 1, 2024 at 12:00 AM and ending October 11, 2024 at 11:59 PM (the “Entry Period”). All entries must be received by October 11, 2024 at 11:59 PM. All times are (GMT-05:00) Eastern Time (US). Entries submitted before or after the Entry Period will not be eligible. Sponsor’s computer is the official timekeeping device for determining the Entry Period for the Contest.


4. To Enter: To enter, visit Yale’s Instagram page located at https://www.instagram.com/yalehomeus/ (“Website”) during the Contest Period, find the Contest Post on the page (“Post”) and follow the instructions to respond to the Post. Entrant’s response must begin with the hashtag #YaleSecureStartContest contain a minimum of 50 words and a maximum of 2,200 characters (including spaces) total, and take the following steps:

It is Entrant’s sole responsibility to take any steps necessary to adjust their Instagram account settings to permit Entrant to receive messages from Sponsor. Entrant's inability to receive any message(s) from Sponsor for any reason shall be deemed a failure by such entrant to comply with these rules, and any such entrant shall be disqualified from the Contest. Similarly, Sponsor shall not be liable for any lost, misdirected, or otherwise unreceived or illegible messages from entrants. By entering this Contest, each entrant agrees that the Sponsor may contact the entrant by Direct Message via entrant’s Instagram account, to administer and fulfill this Contest.

 

To be eligible, your Entry must be in English. Your Entry must be received within the Contest Period. Any Entry that is not visible to Sponsor or Administrator will not be entered into the Contest. Sponsor and/or Administrator are not responsible for lost, late, incomplete, tampered or damaged Entries or Entries that are lost or misdirected to any Junk folder or SPAM filter. All such Entries will be ineligible. Entries will not be acknowledged or returned. Entries become the property of Sponsor and Sponsor is permitted to use entry content on owned websites, social media, and in emails to consumers. 

 

Limit: one (1) Entry per person during the entire Contest Period. Any person, who attempts to participate by using multiple Instagram accounts, cellular numbers, multiple email addresses, multiple identities, or by using any device or artifice to participate in violation of the terms stated in these Official Rules, may be disqualified by Sponsor in its sole discretion.

 

Any use of robotic, repetitive, automatic, programmed or similar participation methods or agents will void such participation in the Contest. In the event of a dispute over who an Entry corresponds to, the authorized account subscriber of the cellular account used to enter the Contest or the authorized account subscriber or owner of the email address as of the actual time that such information was received by Sponsor or Administrator, will be deemed to be the entrant. The “authorized account subscriber” is defined as the natural person who is assigned the cellular telephone number or email address by the cellular telephone network associated with the cellular phone number or by the internet service provider associated with the email address used to enter the Contest. Administrators may require an entrant to show proof of being the authorized account holder.  Sponsor or Administrator are not responsible for cellular carrier or cell tower glitches or outages that result in the non-receipt of any entrant’s Entry attempts.  Sponsor or Administrator are not responsible for Entries that are garbled, corrupted, or otherwise unascertainable or incomprehensible. Entrants may be required to indicate their acceptance to the Official Rules where indicated at the time of Entry; provided, however, that any entrant’s participation in the Contest constitutes, and is deemed, such entrant’s full and unconditional agreement to the Official Rules and any and all decisions of Sponsor and Administrator, which are final and binding in all respects. All entrants agree to waive any right to claim ambiguity in the Contest and/or these Official Rules.

 

5. Contest Entry Criteria: In addition to the above requirements, each Entry must meet the following content restrictions:

      The Entry must be your original work, created solely by you and must not contain material that violates or infringes another's rights, including but not limited to privacy, publicity or intellectual property rights, or that constitutes copyright or trademark infringement.

      The Entry must not contain sexually explicit content, violence or objectionable material that Sponsor or Administrator determines in its sole discretion is inappropriate, indecent, obscene, abusive, hateful, tortuous, defamatory, slanderous, libelous or offensive;

      The Entry must not contain material that promotes bigotry, racism, hatred or harm against any group or individual or promotes discrimination based on race, sex, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation or age;

      The Entry must not contain material that is unlawful, in violation of or contrary to any applicable laws, rules or regulations. The Entry must not contain any personally identifiable information of any person other than you. Should you include personally identifiable information about yourself in your Entry, you acknowledge and agree that such information will be disclosed publicly and you are solely responsible for any consequences thereof. 

      The Entry must not contain any commercial content or logos.

      The Entry may not have been previously published and must not have won previous awards.

 

6. Contest Judging: Entries received during the Contest Period will be judged by a panel of three judges appointed by the Sponsor or Administrator according to the following procedures and criteria:

 

      Entry’s response to provided prompt 40%

   Judges will determine how well the entrant has addressed each of the following question:

      “Why do you need a secure start?”

      Appropriateness to themes 40%

   Judges will determine whether and to what extent each entry touches on the majority of or all relevant themes:

   Security for your home

   Financial security

      The creativity and presentation of the submitted Entry 20%

   Judges will compare the content of each submitted entry in search of a creative portrayal of the entrant’s written Instagram comment and will compare the content of each entry in search of original and unique portrayal of the entrant’s written response. Judges will look for well-organized, easy to understand, and concise entries.

 

The Entries with the highest scores will be deemed the potential prize winners.  In the event of a tie, the tied Entries will be judged by an additional judge appointed by Sponsor who will serve as a tiebreaker, using the same criteria as outlined above, to determine the potential winner.

 

7. Prizes:

      Grand Prize (maximum 5 winners):

      Each eligible entrant designated as a grand prize winner shall receive one (1) $2,000 prize check; one (1) Yale Approach™Lock with Wi-Fi and the wireless Yale Keypad; and, one (1) Yale Smart Safe with Wi-Fi.  Each grand prize has an approximate retail value (“ARV”) of $2,550.

      First Prize (maximum 100 winners):

      Each eligible entrant designated as a first prize winner shall receive one (1) Code which may be redeemed for one (1) Yale Approach™Lock with Wi-Fi and the wireless Yale Keypad. Code must be redeemed on ShopYaleHome.com and is subject to the terms and conditions of the Code provider policy, including any expiration.  Each first prize has an ARV of $250.

If Sponsor so elects, potential winners may be required to submit to a confidential background check. Such background check may include (but is not limited to) investigation of criminal, sexual offenses, or other arrest or conviction record, and any other factor deemed relevant by the Sponsor to help ensure that the potential winner will not bring the Sponsor into public disrepute, contempt, scandal, or ridicule or reflect unfavorably on the Sponsor. If requested, the potential winner agrees to promptly sign waiver forms authorizing the release of personal and background information prior to receipt of any prize. In the event of noncompliance, to be determined at the sole discretion of Sponsor, prize will be forfeited and will be awarded to an alternate winner.


8. Winner Notification: Winner of the Contest will be notified via Instagram to the account name used to enter the Contest on or around October 14, 2024. Yale shall have no liability for a winner's failure to receive notices for any reasons, including without limitation, winner’s spam, or other security settings or for winner’s provision of incorrect or otherwise non-functioning contact information. If the selected winner cannot be contacted, is ineligible, fails to claim the prize within 72 hours from the time award notification was sent, or fails to timely return a completed and executed declaration and releases as required, prize will be forfeited, and an alternate winner selected. The receipt by winner of the prize offered in this Contest is conditioned upon compliance with any and all federal and state laws and regulations. ANY VIOLATION OF THESE OFFICIAL RULES BY ANY WINNER (AT SPONSOR'S SOLE DISCRETION) WILL RESULT IN SUCH WINNER'S DISQUALIFICATION AS WINNER OF THE CONTEST AND ALL PRIVILEGES AS WINNER WILL BE IMMEDIATELY TERMINATED.

NOTE:  There is a maximum of one prize award per person or household during the entire Contest period.  If eligible entries are less than the scheduled number of prizes available, then associated prize award(s) shall not be awarded.

Potential winners will be required to complete, sign, and return an affidavit of eligibility and liability and, unless prohibited by law, publicity release to Sponsor or Sponsor’s representative within forty-eight (48) hours of prize acceptance. Subject to verification of eligibility and compliance with the terms of these Official Rules, including verification that the winner is eighteen (18) years of age or older, the potential winner will be declared an official winner of the Contest.

 

In the event of noncompliance within any stated time period, the prize will be forfeited, and an alternate potential winner will be selected. Any alternate potential winner selected will also be required to adhere to the time periods described herein. Any prize notification or prize returned to the Sponsor or its agencies as undeliverable will result in disqualification and the awarding of that prize to an alternate potential winner.

 

PRIZE(S) AND APPROXIMATE RETAIL VALUE (“ARV”).  There are a maximum of five (5) available grand prize awards and a maximum of one hundred (100) available first prize awards. Prizes will be sent to the address provided by winners after winners are verified and return their completed Prize Documents.  Unclaimed or returned prizes will not be awarded. Sponsor reserves the right to award an alternate prize of equal or greater value.  Sponsor and the Administrator are not responsible for any legal, or other restrictions on winners’ use of the prize.  The total ARV of all available prizes is $37,750.

 

Actual/appraised value may differ at time of prize award. The specifics of the prize shall be solely determined by the Sponsor. No cash or other prize substitution permitted except at Sponsor's sole discretion. The prize is non-transferable. You will receive a 1099 tax form if you are awarded a total prize value over $599. Prize winners will be solely responsible for all federal, state and/or local taxes, and for any other fees or costs associated with the prizes they receive, regardless of whether it, in whole or in part, is used. No substitution of prize or transfer/assignment of prize to others or request for the cash equivalent by winners is permitted. Acceptance of prize constitutes permission for Yale’s optional use of the winner's name, likeness, and entry for purposes of advertising and trade without further compensation unless prohibited by law.

All merchandise prize items are awarded ‘as is’ without warranty, express or implied.  Prize winners must accept delivery of prize in the method as solely determined and designated by Sponsor.  Prize shall be shipped only to the designated winner residential address as submitted during initial online registration and/or as provided during winner notification, via the carrier as determined and designated by Sponsor (i.e. UPS, USPS or other Sponsor designated carrier), or as otherwise specified by Sponsor.  Allow 8 – 12 weeks for prize delivery. 

 

Once shipped, prize shall be considered as awarded and delivered, and Sponsor shall not be responsible for actual receipt of delivery by winner.  Sponsor shall not be responsible for any lost, late, undelivered, misdirected, damaged or stolen delivery; or any incorrect delivery address provided by winner during registration or prize claim.  In the event of any delivery issues, including undelivered, misdirected, lost or stolen deliveries, Sponsor shall have no responsibility to replace the prize award, and prize award shall not be substituted by Sponsor with any alternate prize award or compensation.  Winner shall look solely to designated shipper/carrier for any lost, damaged, stolen or mis-delivered packages and not to Sponsor for any delivery issues.

9. No Instagram Association: This Contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Instagram. You understand that you are providing your information to Sponsor, not to Instagram. Any questions, comments or complaints regarding the Contest must be directed to the Sponsor and not to Instagram.

 

10. Rights Granted by You: By entering this Contest you understand that Yale, anyone acting on behalf of Yale, or its respective licensees, successors and assigns will have the right, where permitted by law, without any further notice, review or consent to print, publish, broadcast, distribute, and use, worldwide in any media now known or hereafter in perpetuity and throughout the World, your entry, including, without limitation, the entry and winner's name, portrait, picture, voice, likeness, image or statements about the Contest, and biographical information as news, publicity or information and for trade, advertising, public relations and promotional purposes without any further compensation.


11. Terms: Yale reserves the right, in its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend the Contest should (in its sole discretion) a virus, bugs, non-authorized human intervention, fraud or other causes beyond its control corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness or proper conduct of the Contest. In such a case, Yale may judge submissions from all eligible entries received prior to and/or after (if appropriate) the action taken by Yale. Yale reserves the right at its sole discretion to disqualify any individual who tampers or attempts to tamper with the entry process or the operation of the Contest or website or violates these Terms & Conditions.


Yale has the right, in its sole discretion, to maintain the integrity of the Contest, to void entries for any reason, including, but not limited to; multiple entries from the same user from different IP addresses; multiple entries from the same computer in excess of that allowed by Contest rules; or the use of bots, macros or scripts or other technical means for entering.

 

CAUTION: Any attempt by an entrant to deliberately damage any website or undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest may be a violation of criminal and civil laws and should such an attempt be made, Yale reserves the right to seek damages from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law.

12. Limitation of Liability: By entering you will release and hold harmless Yale and its subsidiaries, affiliates, advertising and promotion agencies, partners, representatives, agents, successors, assigns, employees, officers and directors from any liability, illness, injury, death, loss, litigation, claim or damage that may occur, directly or indirectly, whether caused by negligence or not, from (i) your participation in the contest and/or his/her acceptance, possession, use, or misuse of any prize or any portion thereof, (ii) technical failures of any kind, including but not limited to the malfunctioning of any computer, cable, network, hardware or software; (iii) the unavailability or inaccessibility of any transmissions or telephone or Internet service; (iv) unauthorized human intervention in any part of the entry process or the Contest; (v) electronic or human error which may occur in the administration of the Contest or the processing of entries.

13. Disputes: THIS CONTEST IS GOVERNED BY THE LAWS OF UNITED STATES AND WISCONSIN, WITHOUT RESPECT TO CONFLICT OF LAW DOCTRINES. As a condition of participating in this Contest, participant agrees that any and all disputes which cannot be resolved between the parties and causes of action arising out of or connected with this Contest, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, exclusively before a court located in Wisconsin having jurisdiction. Further, in any such dispute, under no circumstances will the participant be permitted to obtain awards for, and hereby waives all rights to claim punitive, incidental, or consequential damages, including reasonable attorneys' fees, other than participant's actual out-of-pocket expenses, and participant further waives all rights to have damages multiplied or increased.

14. Privacy Policy: Information, including personally identifiable information, collected from Entrants, including without limitation any entry, information included as part of an entry, and any correspondence regarding an entry will be used for Contest purposes as described in these Official Rules, and is otherwise subject to the Privacy Policy stated on Sponsor’s Website. 16. Severability: If any provision of these Official Rules is found to be invalid or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction or appointed arbitrator, such determination will in no way affect the validity or enforceability of any other provision herein.
