Bruichladdich Distillery is located on the southwestern tip of the remote Hebridean island of Islay in Scotland. It was originally founded in 1881 and was mothballed in 1994 before being resurrected in 2001 by wine merchants Mark Reynier and Simon Coughlin who had a clear vision of producing a single malt whisky that was reflective of the terroir of Islay. The distillery produces three whisky brands: Bruichladdich, unpeated single malt Scotch whisky; Port Charlotte, heavily peated single malt Scotch whisky; and Octomore, super heavily peated single malt Scotch whisky. Our overarching aim is to challenge preconceived notions in Scotch whisky in the pursuit of flavor while reconnecting land, community, and dram.
